LoRes Weathered Hawker Tempest MkV "122 Tempest Wing, 274th.Sqdn." for Emil's ETO 9th.USAAF.& 2nd.TAF Campaign

This Weathered Tempest MkV (circa: November 1944) skin is based on an aircraft of the RAF 274th.Squadron, Manston Wing stationed at Coltishall, England prior to the D-Day Invasion. This new Hawker Tempest proved to be a better match against the Fw190s & Me109s Luftwaffe fighters of that time. It was best suited for Mid to Low level missions but also was used for Night Fighter defense of England and 'Diver' (V-1 Doodlebug) Intercept Operations. The 274th.Sqdn. joined the 122 Tempest Wing, 2nd.TAF at Volkel (B.80) Holland in November 1944. Amongst it's ranks were RCAF pilot Sqdn.Ldr. David C.Fairbanks (12 confirmed) and Free French pilot Flt.Lt.Pierre Clostermann (11 confirmed) ....

I developed this project from a base skin/model provided in Emil's TAF Skin Pack. I used a variety of rendering technics to change the squadron Codes, add more detail and enhance this aircraft's operational weathering look.
This skin is offered without any particular 274th.sqdn. pilot's nickname so that the in-game squadron will have a more harmonious appearance. Any user can add a pilot's nickname to their download if they wish....

The aircraft's colour scheme and Squadron markings where derived from a coloured aircraft profile plate found in the 1999 Osprey Aircraft of The Aces #27 Publication "Typhoon and Tempest Aces of World War 2" series by Chris Thomas. All operational reference material came also from the same publication....

As best as I can determine the base skin is the work of Stanley99. Included with this is Migge's excellent 'Tempest Virtual Cockpit' with the 'Wing View' modified by yours truly. RAF Mark2 Gunsight by PapaRomeo for period authenticity...

Special thanks to Shawn Griffin for his excellent LoRes Batch File Converter Utility...

The download includes all *.tpc, *.3dz and *.pcx files. The latter begin included so you can review how the graphic weathering techniques were done....
To install simple copy all the *.tpc and *.3dz files into your EAW main directory or as required by 'Stab' or 'Skins & More'....

Enjoy and watch your six .... Skylark
